Australian Cardmaker of the Year comes to A Place to Create

It's nearly September and that means time for another amazing guest tutor to travel the country and make their way to Brisbane to share their talents with us.  On Tuesday 19th September, 2016 Australian Cardmaker of the Year, Anguree Jansen van Rensburg will be visiting to teach two classes - one for the scrapbookers and one for the cardmakers.

Here's a little introduction to Anguree....

My name is Anguree and I am married to an wonderful guy and as you may know,
I also  live in beautiful Darwin.
Fun fact: I love to travel but
sometimes my all responsible self
gets left at home and the crazy 6
year old within me comes along...
On one holiday I have bungee jumped
with both a pushbike and a scooter.
Why, you ask me?  Uhmm I wanted the photo... 😉😜

I was introduced into Scrapbooking
somewhere in 2005
and have been

addicted ever since.  I generally scrap 12x12
pages, but also enjoy

making cards, tags art journaling and
off the page projects.

My style can vary from grungy to
shabby but I dare say no style is

off limits.

Experimenting with new techniques and products keeps
me engaged and

inspired. It makes it fun and allows me
to jump between different

styles depending on the products
I choose to use.
I am incredibly honored and blessed to be chosen as
Cardmaker of the

year for Simply Cards Magazine and
am serving on a number of different

design teams.
I  really treasure the  friendships I have been able to
build with those who I meet and work with and am blessed
to call many

of them my friends.

I scrap and craft because it makes me happy. I love to
share this love

and share the joy it gives me with
others in the hope that it will

encourage them to play
along and find the same kind of happiness.

To me it's all
about sharing the little things that makes life a

happier place.

Here is a little preview of the colours Anguree will be working with.
The layout will feature a selection of shades of blue combined with fabulous
watercolour techniques while  the cards focus on some gorgeous shabby chic vintage
                                                        white effects.

You can follow Anguree's work at her blogspot  where you will find many of her published                                                   works including the following ......

It couldn't have been a more fabulous finale for what was an amazing week of fun for the shop's 7th birthday and first year in the new shop.  Rachel Greig's classes were loads of fun and all the ladies and gentleman who attended had a fantastic day.   Thanks Rachel for spending a day with us and sharing so much knowledge.

#2 ~ WEDNESDAY 9th August ~ 10am, 11am, 12 noon

You will use the newest stencil from Celebr8 combined with Colour Blast Colour pastes to stencil the background with a multicolour effect, then die cut elements using dies from The Ritz collection and papers from Celebr8's Forever Friends new 6x6 paper pad, colour a wooden butterfly with Prima alchemy metallic paints and glitter, add some tuille and ribbon and this gorgeous square card will be yours - all for free. No tools, adhesives or other materials required.

Our 7th Birthday celebrations for the shop have begun and 50 VIP customers helped us celebrate Saturday afternoon along with some fabulous demonstrators, tutors and volunteers.  Thanks to all the staff who helped make the day so special and worked tirelessly all week.

Gayle and Sharon rocked their wearable art pieces.  Congratulations to Beverley Teske and Kathleen Young who both won wearable art prizes.

How amazing are all the samples from Colour Blast???

Thanks to Tenisha Furlong from Colour Blast for demonstrating the  shimmer cubes and everything else all afternoon.  Love those colours.

This was Louise Turner's make and take table before everybody got creative.

 Raffle prizes

Good Vibes layout kit by Kerrie Gurney,  sold out currently but more stock arriving soon.  Complete with colour instructions and available with mixed media components or without.

Despite suffering from a terrible sinus infection, Deb still shared all her magic with water colouring, and dusting ~ thanks for battling through Deb.  Feel better soon. xo

Sharon's demo table before she destroyed it and made the biggest mess on the floor - as always.

Congratulation to Anne and Nettie for winning our major Lucky Door Prizes.  So sorry we made you cry Anne but very happy the Go Press and Foil is going to a home where it is so loved already.   Nettie had left before her prize was drawn so she is in for a surprise Tuesday when she comes to class... shhhhh let's surprise her.

Miss Kerrie, these flowers are nearly as bright and beautiful as you.  Thanks for risking everything to bring back our Celebr8 products to share with everyone.  It is much appreciated.

Sienna is just 9 years old and bakes all these amazing cupcakes herself and decorates them.  As if that wasn't enough, she donated 10% of all profits to a small school in Africa.  Well done Judy on raising such a thoughtful and talented daughter and thanks to Paige for helping her yesterday.

Here is one of our smart pups who attended to share his skills (mainly doing the splits and being more flexible than all of us) and Dayle his handler.  Thanks to Jane and Jack also.  You were all so well behaved - hehehe.
Well done Rachel - not bad for a newbie!  Glad you had fun.

Miss Kerrie and her bestie Bez posing with their Forever Friends layouts.

Celebr8 duck joined us for the auspicious occasion.  Welcome to A Place to Create Celebr8 duck.

Hope you had fun too duck.

 What an awesome team!!!!

How gorgeous are these stencils and new 6x6 paper pads from Celebr8?

Don't forget the fun continues this week with more fun and loads of birthday specials.
