In a new initiative by the new owner this year, we are introducing after school classes every Wednesday and Thursday for children  6 years to 12 years of age.

These 45 minute sessions will be held by a registered blue card holder and children will need a parent or guardian to stay with them during the session - depending on the age and ability of the child, parents may sit and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or tea, wander the shop, or use our lounge area to sit and read or play with other siblings.

Further plans include expanding these classes during the school holidays to make day sessions available also.

If you are interested please register your interest with us via email at
or phone us on
3851 2200.

You can also join our facebook group by clicking here

We hope you are excited as we are about this new program and welcome your feedback.

This week Deb and Sue kick off the week with their usual Tuesday class with these gorgeous cards.

Then they back it up on Wednesday with take #2 of Deb's gorgeous mini album using Celebr8 mini album and Uniquely Creative Wise and Free papers.

Everyone who attended last week's mini album class is invited back to finish their albums also or just to check they have all the pieces needed to finish it.

Wednesday and Thursday of course are our free Scrap and Chat days where you can bring in whatever it is you're working on and use our quiet space to just create.

We have some lovely ladies who come to this so if you're feeling lonely, don't!  You are welcome to join and make new friends.

Thursday night Sharon has her thrill-seekers join her for an evening class of fun and exploration as we explore oxides and backgrounds, pearl effects and more.
You are always welcome to join us.

Friday morning, Sharon has another class (can't share samples just yet) but it's always fun.

Then Saturday sees us kick off the weekend with our first in store retreat for 2020.

And as if that isn't enough, we are open on Sunday too from 9am - 2pm.

Retreat participants can stay on for free and keep creating and anyone who can't join us Saturday is welcome to attend a free crop on Sunday between 9am and 2pm.
Bookings are essential though please as we need to prepare the space and tables etc.

We hope your week is just as exciting  but not too exciting that you can't find time to visit us.

Happy Creating,
Karenina and the A Place to Create Team

NEW EASTER, GNOMES and DISNEY lines from PHOTO PLAY for 2020

Photo Play became a major feature in the store last year with many unique and versatile collections being released.  They seem to set themselves apart from other companies steering away from the generic abstract base and continuing to release some themed collections that you the customers seemed to be missing.

2020 seems to be another great year for Photo Play and A Place to Create if the first few months are anything to go on.

First we saw their ANOTHER DAY AT THE PARK collection release (it was actually late 2019 but only got to us early  2020) - bringing with it finally a Disney feel collection for anyone whose ever been to "the happiest place on earth" anywhere around the world.

The range is designed by the Art Director of Photo Play, Becky Fleck Moore and for any of you have been around for years (like some of us), Becky has been a household name in the scrapping industry for years with her fabulous page maps books which I still own to this day and can't part with.

In store, we teamed this range with fabulous ribbons, chippies and embellishments to create a stand filled with everything you need to scrap your Disney memories.

With more bright colours and another lost

                  and nearly forgotten theme,
                    came LITTLE BUILDER.

A vibrant collection of papers and
                 embellishments for every
              childhood obsession with diggers!

Whether you are a card maker
or scrapbooker, there is always a need to have this cool
collection on hand.
With bold patterns and fun colours, there are so many
papers that can be used for every childhood page or
birthday cards.

The packs and individual papers are in store now
along with loads of fabulous co-ordinating
ribbons and some cool chipboard sentiments
to match.

As if that wasn't enough cuteness, TULLA AND NORBERT hit the stores with their gorgeous gnome lifestyles and mushroom papers.
Who doesn't love some cute little gnomes and Tulla and Norbert are adorable.

With matching stamps and dies, papers and colouring sheets, it's such a fun line.

And of course because we are already thinking about EASTER, our new EASTER display includes this new line from Photo Play also.

EASTER WISHES is filled with so many fun elements and we are sure you will love it as much as we do.

All these ranges are in store now - have you seen them?

Come and say hi to the new owner, Karenina, or catch up with Gayle (yes she's back at work on Tuesdays and some Saturdays starting this week), wish Carmel a happy birthday for last week, or help Sharon hobble around on her fractured foot.....whatever your motivation, we'd love to see you.

Have a fabulous week everybody.

Happy Sunday everyone!!!

If you haven't visited one of Brisbane's fabulous scrapbooking, papercraft and mixed media stores, we invite you to come and have a look around.

The store is under the new management of Karenina Maitland Taylor and is alive with new opportunities, exciting events and familiar staff you have come to know and trust to guide you.

We often have people visit who are surprised at the size of the store after entering the front door.

The view from the street doesn't do justice to the amount of space we have inside and after visiting stores across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia, I can honestly say that A Place to Create is one of the largest and best stocked stores in the country.

Despite having 5 rooms of stock, we still have a small class area which can be used for smaller classes and scrap and chats but we also have a very large air conditioned space.

This new air conditioned space and comfort has allowed us to expand our class options for 2020 as well as invite talented teachers to share their passion with you.

We will also be hiring this room  out this year so if you have a group (be it craft or otherwise) and need a large air conditioned space for whatever it is you want to do, please enquire with Karenina on 3851 2200 or email

Last weekend we saw the gorgeous Erin Bruton from Celebr8 South Africa and
Jenny Heaslip from Celebr8 Australia, entertain 100 ladies.

Next weekend on Saturday 22nd February, sees the vibrant Yvette Fanciulli join us to get messy and colourful with Uniquely Creative and Dylusions products in a class open to both scrapbookers and card makers alike.

On March 14th, the space will transform into one of Brisbane's biggest craft de-stash sales where crafters will offload their unwanted crafting materials and shoppers will revel in the wonderous finds and bargains to be had.

Join our event on facebook to stay updated and be reminded so you don't miss out.

On the last weekend of March, another local talent, Michelle Grant joins us for 3 fabulous class opportunities.  Saturday 28th March will see participants partake in a full day of mixed media mayhem exploring many techniques with mixed media elements.
Whether you are a card maker or scrapbooker, the techniques remain the same - just the size changes so this class is a must for anyone wanting an introduction to mixed media or try new techniques.

Sunday will consist of 2 classes and you can stay updated by joining the event on Facebook.

All the details for upcoming classes can be found on our Classes / Events tab and some can also be found on Facebook Events which you can join to stay updated.

Thanks so much for joining us here and we hope to see you in store really soon as your custom and support is what allows us to stay open - supporting small businesses and bricks and mortar stores is becoming increasingly important in this digital age.

Have a wonderful Sunday and do visit us soon.
