A Christmas card class for all ages… bring the kids from 8 years up to create a set of 20 very cute cards and envelopes using the new K & Co ‘Very Merry’ collection. Great chance to get 20 Christmas cards made for yourself or one for the kids to make cards to give to their friends. Parents are welcome to stay and help children attending the class, but please no extra siblings. Please bring your own adhesives..ie: liquid glue or glue stick and 3d foam adhesives.

Retreat Timetable 14th, 15th and 16th of October 2011 - Brisbane

We look forward to seeing you at our very first retreat for A Place to Create. This event has been designed to be user friendly allowing you to participate in as much or as little as you wish.

We will kick off the retreat with a relaxed Friday night crop where all are welcome. Saturday brings 6 classes in total with the crop starting at 1pm through to midnight. Sunday will have another 4 classes for you to choose from and cropping will start at 9.30am through till 4pm.

You can simply choose the classes you are interested in and book. There is no limit to the number of classes you book as long as you only select one class from each time slot.

This retreat gives you the best of both worlds. Crop to your heart’s content with the opportunity to participate in classes as you desire- you can just pop out of the crop to attend classes as necessary.

If you do not wish to join in the crop sessions you may just come along for classes as you wish.

Pre paid booking are essential, payments may be made over the phone 3851 2200 or in store.

Bookings close Friday 7th October 2011.

Accommodation is available at the venue ~ please contact the Brook Hotel 3355 5366 for enquiries and bookings.

Please note that the venue is licenced therefore you cannot bring alcohol however you may bring a snack if participating in the late night crop session. Tea, coffee and water will be made available throughout the crops

No meals are included with class bookings but can be booked separately.

Crops may be attended on either day or book for both and save.

Friday night Crop

Join us for a crop Friday night from 6pm till midnight. Access to the room from 6pm, bring the projects you are working on or purchase a layout kit. Bring your tools and equipment and enjoy a relaxed evening with other scrappers.

Have your dinner before you come or you can order dinner from the menu at the Brook to be delivered to your cropping area. Alcohol can be purchased from the bar during the evening.

Venue: Annex room located at the far end of the Tennyson room, easy access through side door from back car park on Crazy Clarks side.

Tea/Coffee, water and nibbles will be available.

Cost: $10 per head.

Crops on Saturday and Sunday:

Crop Session A: Saturday crop is located in the Tennyson Room. Crop starts from 1pm through to midnight and includes dinner - $35 (Please Note: Tennyson room is not available until after 1pm Saturday)

Crop Session B: Sunday crop is also located in the Tennyson Room. Crop starts from 9.30am through to 4pm – includes lunch - $30

Book into both Saturday and Sunday crops for total cost of $60 includes dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday.

Access to the Tennyson room for crops can be gained via the Motel reception at the rear of the Brook Hotel.

Classes for the Weekend:
Will be held in the Annex room and easy access can be gained via the side door from the back car park on Crazy Clark's side if you are not attending the crop sessions.

You will need to bring a ruler with 'inch' measurements for this class plus basic tool kit and adhesives. $35	“Flower Fantasy” Shadowbox Frame. This class is all about techniques, layers and creating a stunning framed layout to showcase your favourite photo. Use dies, embossing, alcohol inks, acetate, heat tools and more as you create this flower and butterfly themed masterpiece. A Place to Create's First Scrapbooking Retreat

How exciting??? We are turning 1 year old and it's time we had our very first retreat. So save the following dates so you don't miss out and keep an eye on this website to get more details as they become available.
We won't be going too far for our first retreat, it will be held locally at the Brook Hotel at Mitchelton so those of you who have family or work commitments can also join in. It also means the cost will be kept down as you won't have to pay for accommodation as you will be able to sleep in your own comfy bed. For those that would like to come and are a little further away, accommodation is available on site this can be arranged by calling the Brook Hotel.....

Saturday June 25th: 12.30 - 2pm. Core'dinations Class. Learn how to get the best use out of Core'dinations card stock while making a mini book. Core'dinations card stock has a core colour which coordinates with the surface colour of the card. You can choose to keep the core colour hidden or add your own creative touch by sanding, tearing or embossing to reveal the core colour. Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to 2011. It's now time to get back into the swing of a new year and I have the following class and crop schedule for all those wanting something crafty to do during January. Crackled Tree
Create a Crackled Tree that matches the Funky Wreath, tree can be used for Christmas or all year round. You will have a co ordinating set that will be admired by family and friends. Paint, crackle medium, templates, cuttlebug dies and embossing folders and inks will be used to create your masterpiece.

Douglas attended my crop Saturday night and finished off his Kaisercraft desk organiser and note pad holder using the Up, Up and Away Collection of papers and embellishments. How amazing does this look? Douglas shows us how you can transform any wooden piece from Kaisercraft into male or female by the selection of papers you use.

My first crop at A Place to Create was held last night. We had such a lovely group of people attend. Classes at A Place to Create.
I have negotiated with Sharon from A Creative Place for her to use my upstairs area at A Place to Create so that she & Jo can still continue to do classes.
Through everything that has been going on in the last few weeks they have been working together to present another one of their ever popular 10 LAYOUT classes which is scheduled for:

Saturday: 11th September
Time: 10am - 1pm

Participants will need to bring a trimmer and adhesives.

For those who cannot make it on this date, kits can be ordered and you can book a day to come down and copy the layouts or we will email photos of each layout to you when you collect your kit.

Jo has also created a gorgeous desk organiser using Kaisercraft's Hippy Girl paper range of papers and rub ons and is presenting this class at A Place to Create on Sunday 12th September from 11am-1pm. You can see the sample of the desk organiser Jo has created in store. More details on this class will be published soon.

Sharon & Jo are also working on a Christmas fun day which will include Christmas cards and Ornate Christmas frames presented by A Creative Place and fantastic Christmas wood projects presented by A Place to Create. On another note: While Sharon has been sorting out her stock and fittings she still has a number of 12 x 12 black paper racks left over which you can purchase for $30 each or 2 for $50.00. From little things big things grow!!!! Share our journey and see how A Place to Create is coming to life. From bare walls and floors, add a little carpet, some paint, some design features that had the boys up the ladders (sorry boys), build a wall, add some shelves and a rack or two a counter and our shop is coming together. The stock started arriving last week with the first 7 boxes, then daily from then on with 19 boxes of Kaisercraft wood arriving yesterday. The back wall is covered with 120 different designs of gold and silver craft stickers, a huge range of chipboard arrived today and cardstock will arrive later in the week. What a time to shop with complete ranges of all the Kaisercraft papers and embellishments, all the different colours of paints, rhinestones and pearls, the full sets of rub ons large and small and the largest range of Kaisercraft wood you could wish for- be quick to get the best picks of the complete ranges.

Don't forget we open this Saturday 21st August with our Grand Opening Sunday 22nd August from 10 -3.

You can't keep a lid on Creativity!!!

The stock has not finished being racked up, the doors are not open yet - BUT you can't keep a lid on creativity. Can you believe it a creative staff member has already started to make my very first samples for A Place to Create. The Large Desk Organiser, a page layout and a set of cards have all been created using the new paper range 'Hippy Girl' from Kaisercraft. Visit the store from Saturday the 21st of August to be inspired with all the new stock lines, samples, ideas and creativity.

My patience is paying off, the painting is now finished and the carpet gets started tomorrow. I can't wait to open my boxes of stock that have already arrived that contain 15 full ranges of papers and embellishments from Kaisercraft including the new August collections Hippy Girl and Secret Bird Society. Space has already been allocated for the new Christmas collections Tis the Season and Be Merry that will arrive in September. The store will also have the full range of Kaiser paints, grosgrain ribbons and lace, wooden embellishments, alpha stickers, mini clear stamps, rhinestones, inks, tools and accessories, wood products and more.
We will also carry an extensive cardstock range, flowers, chipboard, gold and silver craft stickers and much much more.

Hello and Welcome to 'A Place to Create'

Exciting news- the lease was finally signed today- horray!!! I can now tell you that my new shop will be at unit 24/1147 South Pine Road, Arana Hills, Nth Brisbane. They say I have to be patient and wait until the shop is fitted out, the walls painted and floor coverings down before I can start to put stock in. Patience is not my virtue but I'm learning. So instead I have been busy setting up accounts with wholesalers and finding some yummy stock for you all to enjoy. At this time I expect that I will open early September 2010 if not sooner- so watch this space for all the excitement yet to happen in the birth of 'A Place to Create'.

As we all know there is no 'i' in team. i know it is only early days of my new venture and already i feel i have to say a big thank you to my team. My thanks goes to everyone who has supported me already and i know will continue to support me, and that includes you Hannah for your lovely gift today, i love it!! But today my special thanks has to go to my incredibly clever and creative technicians who are responsible for this blogspot and what ever else involves computers and that sort of technical stuff. Any of you who know me well will know i may be creative but when it comes to computers, blogspots, facebook, twitter and all that i am hopeless. Today was my very first post (they told me that's what it was called) let alone they say i have to do twitter and facebook- please help me, posting was enough for one day. So thank you to my technical gurus, you know who you are!!!
