NEW TRADING HOURS

Hi everyone,

As things start to resume some sense of normality in our lives, we have planned our July class schedule and it is already jam packed.

Adding in two extra Sunday trading days in July has allowed us to bring you even more exciting classes too.

The Doozey Chicks are returning on Tuesday 30th June, we let them sneak in a day early since they're so keen to get back!

Free Scrap and Chat sessions return on Wednesdays and Thursdays for now
and Sharon returns to card making classes Friday mornings and one Saturday class.

Mel will be back on the first and third Saturday of each month with all her fabulous scrapbook class options
and
Suzie will be exciting us with not one but two mixed media classes in July to kick off the excitement.
And as if that's not enough, the fabulous and fun Yvette will be rejoining us for a fun packed Sunday with a card making class in the morning and a layout class in the afternoon. We are yet to confirm if this layout class can again be done as cards during the class but we will be sure to let you know once Yvette lets us know.

We are still exercising social distancing measures and we have the classroom set up to ensure you have your own table at this stage and it is adequately spaced from the surrounding tables. Along with all our other routine cleaning procedures in place now,
the room will be cleaned before and after class and sanitiser is still being provided upon entry to the shop to help keep all items safe inside.

Please help us keep everyone safe by helping to follow the guidelines.

UPDATE ON CLASSES, CROPS AND RETREATS RESUMING

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported this wonderful shop over the past few months and now slowly we can start looking forward to getting back to some kind of normality.

We are happy to announce that as from 1st July,
we will be resuming additional activities at APTC.
Careful consideration was made in conjunction with the
current guidelines on how we, as a business,
can practically ensure everyone can feel confident that they
will be in a safe environment.

Obviously we will all take responsibility to continue the social distancing rules, hygiene will be of paramount importance and if you are feeling unwell the advice is to stay at home.

Together Queenslanders have slowed the spread of COVID-19
by staying at home.

As a result, the Queensland Government will continue to ease restrictions on movement within Queensland.

As you may be aware as from the 12th June, Stage 2 commences which means the restrictions will be lifted to include a gathering of up to 20 people - this number will include any staff on the premises.

Stage 3 starts on the 10th July where there can be gatherings of up to 100 people - subject to review.

All the teachers have been consulted and are happy to resume classes in store from this date. We will provide dates of classes etc in the July calendar which will be posted on Facebook and the Blog in the next couple of weeks.

With regard to the August retreat,
we will be visiting the premises next week to ascertain
the numbers that can be safely accommodated and in particular
assessing the overnight accommodation options.
We will communicate the way forward regarding this in the next few weeks.

With this in mind and to ensure we are adhering to the guidelines,
please may we we ask that for any classes you would like to attend
that you please book in advance and at that point we would take payment to secure your place.

Should numbers exceed the recommended guidelines,
you will be advised and ongoing discussions with the teachers
concerned will enable us to make decisions about holding extra classes
when and if possible.

For all those who have already booked and paid for Melissa Struhs' classes,
we will be contacting you all over the next few weeks to confirm attendance.

Free Crops will resume on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm and we will have dates for the Saturday crops included in the July calendar.

Thank you for your patience with regard to us making this decision and before you know it, you will be catching up and crafting together.........

Warmest wishes to you all and keep an eye out for weekly updates.

Regards,
Karenina

CHECK OUT SOME OF OUR FUN NEW LAYOUT KITS

The gorgeous Yvette Fanciulli has designed some fresh and fun new layout kits for us.

Each one includes a little bit of mixed media so if you're not a fan or just haven't tried it before, these are a great introduction to trying a little bit of mixed media on your pages.

They come with instructions and full colour photos so you can create them how they were designed or design your own page with the elements in the kit.  You can always add some bits out of your own stash too.

This is a double page layout kit featuring the beautiful Winter Rose collection from Uniquely Creative.  All the beautiful frames are cut for you from Uniquely Creative's new Rose Gold cardstock and using new frame dies from Uniquely Creative.

You have to love layout kits that allow you the option to pop lots of pics on the page to tell the whole story.  This layout does just that and it is embellished with beautiful hand coloured floral elements from a Uniquely Creative cut and colour cut apart sheet.  The kit also includes a full pack of the large matt board words from Celebr8 and these are coloured to add lots of fabulous punch to the page.

How fun is this page and there are so many things you can do with these versatile little elements.  We have included a second sheet of paper and additional titles so you can easily turn this into a double page layout if you wish.

The simplicity and vibrancy of this page make any photo pop  when you frame it with the panels provided.  Add the Celebr8 matt board flourishes, title  and butterflies and you will have a beautiful fun layout perfect for any photo.  Change your inking colour to suit your photo or your favourite colour.

We see layouts like this all the time but going to the effort of actually cutting all the circles often puts us off actually doing it.  Well it's done for you in this kit and all the thinking about what patterns and what colours to put where is also done for you.  That doesn't mean to say you can't change it up however you like but it's a great start to get you motivated.  Again, it features some Celebr8 matt board which gives such a fabulous circle frame with flourished floral effects, it's just  so much fun!!!

This was meant to be a class Yvette would share with you all last month however given the virus, we had to kit it so you get even more options.  All the die cutting is done for you.  We have included one page of watercolour with texture paste already on it if you want to use that or don't have paste or there is a blank page of watercolour card you can create your own stencilling on.
Your kit also includes a mini mark making stamp or a voucher so you can pick your own from the shelves in store.

Look how much is in your kit!!!!

I just love a splash of hot pink every now and again and when it's paired with all these beautiful shades of pink and those gorgeous monstera leaves, it's just a winning combination.

You even get some extra bits to create a matching card if you like or again you could use these bits to make a matching page if you'd prefer.

We hope you like these kits as much as we do and look forward to seeing your creations.

We will have these on our kit page very soon!!!

Remember we are open today Saturday 23rd May and tomorrow Sunday 24th May 10am - 2pm.
Come on in and say hello.

STAMPING FUN WITH ECOLINE BRUSH PENS

We have been really inspired by a post from the
this week.

You can click on the link to pop over and have a look sometime.

They run fantastic challenges each month and have lots of inspiration from group members.

The project that excited us this week was created by Godelieve Tijskens from

who not only creates amazing work but has also designed stamp collections for Darkroom Door during 2019.  Here are some of her designs for Darkroom Door and some examples created by herself, Rachel and the entire Darkroom Door design team.

Here it is below:

The project that we thought was worth sharing with you all.

Godelieve has taken an assortment of Darkroom Door stamps and teamed them with Ecoline Brush Markers and created these colourful whimsy cards which we just love!!!!

 How fabulous are these colours????

These markers come in an array of vibrant colours and are perfect for brush lettering also.

If ink is more your style, they also make a set of ink pots which have an intense pigment colour.

A great idea whenever you get a new set of pens is to create your own colour swatch so you can see what colours your pens break down to within each colour.

A blender pen is also available and comes with some of the sets.  Look at the amazing effects you can create when blending.

Hope you get our our colour markers and have a play or if you need some new ones, let us know and we will see what we can help you with.  Just call the girls at the shop for help, 3851 2200.

Stay safe, stay healthy.
Karenina and the A Place to Create team.

Happy Monday Vibes with Studio 73 coming your way.....

We hope you are enjoying this extra public holiday this week.  Normally we would all be so looking forward to these, however with life being so different of late, not of all us find this day any different to those preceding and following it.

The least we can do is share some inspiration with you from the very talented Hetty Hall using Studio 73’s first two collections - Timekeeper and About a Boy!

There is such a romance in this paper before you even start adding photos.

How beautiful is the use of a black and white photo with the soft romantic hues and marbled tones in the background?

And in quite a contrast, how fabulous are these baby projects featuring “About A Boy”?

Be sure to share your projects with us on our Facebook Page or email them to us - be sure to include any details you might like included when we post them on our page.

These two collections are still in store and Studio 73 have new collections coming our way soon.

What do you think?

Happy Creating,
Karenina and the team at A Place to Create
